Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and Body-Worn Cameras (BWC)
The Townsville HHS has a network of CCTV in operation throughout its facilities.
Health Security Department Officers at Townsville University Hospital, Kirwan Health Campus and Joyce Palmer Health Service on Palm Island additionally operate BWC devices. The footage collected from the CCTV network and BWC are used to monitor facilities for health, safety and security reasons.
Footage collected is used for the investigation of incidents and may be provided to authorities for the prosecution of alleged breaches of law in accordance with the terms of the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011 and/or the Information Privacy Act 2009.
A person may request footage of them by making an application under the Right to Information Act 2009 or the Information Privacy Act 2009 to the Senior Release of Information Officer on 4433 1319 or {"ct":"T3lZwczOtDT0WR+5bvDWIyBw3ZDt6H1SLg8ptnivfdI=","iv":"b71ff128af31d3d33bcdadf965f2f1e8","s":"e3c62c27226c03aa"}.
The Townsville HHS will not provide footage to any person or agency unless authorised or required by law.
The term Health Security Department Officers is used to encompass both Health Security Officers and car park attendants.
