Nursing and Midwifery Recruitment

Tayla, Midwife

"Working at Townsville University Hospital (TUH) has allowed me to become a skilled, competent and holistic midwife, enabling me to facilitate informed choice and empower women and their families through their journey of pregnancy and parenthood.

TUH cares for many women throughout North Queensland and we are dedicated to ensuring women have positive healthcare experiences and positive outcomes.

I am proud to be part of the TUH community and proud to work with such an amazing team who want to make a positive change to women and their families."

Spencer, Registered Nurse

"I moved from the Sunshine Coast to Townsville for a graduate nursing position within oncology at Townsville University Hospital (TUH), and definitely do not regret my decision to move.

Not only did I complete the Graduate Nursing Program, I also completed a Queensland Cancer Education Program (QCEP). This educational program saw me completing modules, clinical assessments, attending specialised education days and rotating through three areas of oncology. I also received additional support from the clinical nurse educator of oncology, which was particularly helpful within my graduate year.

Having completed this program I am now able to put this towards my post-graduate study for credit. I love working in oncology, and I love the wonderful patients that I am privileged enough to care for."

Spencer, Registered Nurse
Jeremy, Registered Nurse

"My experience in a rural community has been through interacting with a diverse range of clients.

I have had opportunities through a large variety of scenarios including aged care, trauma, emergency, triage, paediatrics and mental health. This has been facilitated in a supportive nurse-led environment, utilising facilities such as telehealth and retrieval services whilst involving myself in the rural lifestyle. This is possibly one of the best exposures there is to a wide variety of clients and situations."

Kirsty, Registered Nurse

Transitioning from a student nurse to a Registered Nurse can be a very overwhelming time for new nurses. The Graduate Nursing Program here at Townsville University Hospital offers novice nurses support and guidance during this pivotal transition period.

The ongoing support from the graduate and nursing midwifery team and my colleagues has enabled me to consolidate theory and clinical practice and has improved my clinical reasoning. Ongoing education and the opportunity to reflect has built a strong foundation on which I can continue to grow both professionally and personally.

Kirsty, Registered Nurse
