Video call consultations
A video call consultation allows patients in rural and remote areas to receive specialist health care, closer to home via videoconferencing, reducing the need for travel.
Your doctor or treating health professional will determine if a video call is an appropriate and available option for you based on your individual circumstances.
What is a video call consultation?
Video call consultations can be conducted either own your own device or at your local healthcare facility with a local health care professional in attendance. This health care professional will usually outline what you can expect during the consultation and may even take preliminary tests such as blood pressure and heart rate. Your specialist will then be connected to you via video call.
What are the benefits of a video call consultation?
There are a number of benefits to a video call, including access to health services locally, reduced travel costs, reduced time away from home and reduced travel burden. The level of care that you receive will be the same high quality that you would receive in person.
How can I arrange to have my appointments via video call?
Not all treatments and appointments can be conducted via a video call. To find out if you can access your appointment via a video call, ask your GP or specialist when booking or confirming your next appointment.
